CarbonClearingHouse holds 11M tCO₂e in CORSIA-eligible credits positioned for EU aviation compliance. ACR-certified, ICAO-approved for the 2024–2026 mandatory period, with full audit documentation for regulatory submission.
Phase 1 is active now (2024–2026). Airlines must offset CO₂ growth beyond 85% of 2019 baseline. First compliance submissions are due in 2025.ICAO CORSIA →
The Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) is the first global market-based measure applied to an entire economic sector. Developed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and adopted by 193 member states, CORSIA requires airlines to offset CO₂ emissions growth from international flights above a defined baseline.
Unlike regional schemes (such as the EU ETS), CORSIA applies globally to international aviation routes between participating states — covering more than 90% of international aviation activity. It is expected to offset or reduce 2.5 to 4 billion tonnes of CO₂e through 2035.
Airlines must purchase and cancel ICAO-approved "emissions units" (carbon credits) from approved programmes to satisfy their offsetting obligations. CarbonClearingHouse holds ACR-certified CORSIA-eligible credits — approved by the ICAO Council for the 2024–2026 mandatory compliance period.
Compliance Phases
Voluntary participation phase. Airlines from 88 states voluntarily offset growth in international CO₂ emissions above 2019 baseline levels. Established the operational framework and registry infrastructure.
First mandatory compliance period. Airlines must offset CO₂ growth beyond 85% of their 2019 emissions for all international routes between participating states. ICAO has issued the first-ever growth factor for 2024 offsetting obligations.
Expanded mandatory phase with a sector-wide baseline replacing individual airline baselines. Expected to cover 90%+ of international aviation CO₂. Offsetting requirements will intensify significantly as air travel demand recovers and grows.
International carriers with routes between CORSIA-participating states. Phase 1 (2024–2026) requires offsetting CO₂ growth beyond 85% of 2019 emissions. CCH provides ACR-certified credits with full compliance documentation.
